Rules for Reporters on RepEx Platform

At Reporter Exchange (RepEx), we strive to make our platform a valuable resource for both journalists and sources alike. To that end, we ask that all journalists who use our service follow these guidelines:

1. Be honest and transparent: When posting a query on RepEx, be clear about who you are, what publication you are with, and what you are looking for in a source. Don't misrepresent yourself or your intentions.
2. Respect privacy and confidentiality: If a source asks to remain anonymous or off the record, honor their request. Don't share their information or use it for anything other than the story you are working on.
3. Be professional and courteous: Treat sources with respect and courtesy, even if they are not a good fit for your story. Don't engage in harassing or abusive behavior.
4. Follow up with sources in a timely manner: If you receive responses to your query, make an effort to respond to each one, even if it's just to say "thanks, but no thanks". Don't leave sources hanging or waste their time.
5. Give credit where credit is due: If you use information or quotes from a source in your story, give them proper credit. Don't plagiarize or use someone else's work without permission.

3. Respond promptly to journalist inquiries: If a journalist contacts you about your pitch, respond in a timely manner and provide the information they need to evaluate your pitch. Don't leave them waiting or waste their time.
4. Respect journalists' editorial decisions: If a journalist chooses not to use you as a source, respect their decision and move on. Don't pressure them to use your information or make unreasonable demands.
